Interesting Facts About Clase Azul

Clase Azul Tequila is a top-notch tequila with a high price tag. While on the higher end, the experience it offers its drinkers is unmatched and well worth it. In our latest blog, we share tidbits of what makes this Clase Azul so unique. Read along to learn some interesting facts about Clase Azul.

Origins of Clase Azul Tequila

Clase Azul Tequila came to fruition through perseverance and hard work. In 1997, Arturo Lomeli sought to make something of himself with the knowledge and skills he had acquired in college. Before launching Clase Azul, Lomeli opened a bar and released a few products that didn't quite work out in his favor. His entrepreneurial spirit didn't let the setbacks stop him from pursuing his dream of creating a successful business. In 1999, he returned to school to study marketing, the art of ceramics, and tequila production. With his newfound appreciation of the mix, he created Clase Azul Tequila.

Clase Azul Tequila Production

A lot of work goes into a bottle of Clase Azul. Clase Azul is made of 100% organic tequilana weber blue agaves. Once harvested, they are left to cook in traditional masonry ovens and milled. This process produces a uniquely sweet flavor and aroma. After about 72 hours, each batch is then left to ferment. Once fermented adequately, the product is then carefully distilled. The fermentation process gives it its rich flavor, and the distillation process ensures its smooth taste.

There are three varieties of Clase Azul tequila: Plata, Reposado, and Añejo. Each type is slightly made differently to create its unique flavor profile. All in all, they are made with quality products and care.

Clase Azul Tequila's Rich Flavors

As mentioned, Clase Azul has three varieties of tequila. Each offers drinkers a memorable experience. Clase Azul Plata has a sweet, agave, vanilla, and caramel aroma. On the palate, it has the same agave, vanilla, and caramel taste but with an added hint of mint. Clase Azul Reposado has a similar profile to Plata but is distinguished by its oaky undertone. Clase Azul Añejo, on the other hand, has a more complex flavor profile. While still carrying a nice agave, vanilla, and caramel flavor, it also carries an oaky, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove undertone. Each selection is delicious, smooth, and luxurious.

Clase Azul Tequila Artwork

Ever wonder what's behind the beautiful artwork on each bottle of Clase Azul? The beautifully hand painted bottles are a direct homage to Lomeli's heritage. When Lomeli started Clase Azul, he wanted to create a fine Mexican product that perfectly encapsulates his culture. Growing up in Guadalajara, Mexico, he was surrounded by beautiful Mexican artwork, pottery, and fine artisans. As he got older, he saw a decline in the craft and feared the culture would soon die out. With Clase Azul, he hopes to keep the Mexican spirit and artistry alive. Each bottle is painted by native Mexican artisans in the tiny village of Clase Azul Tequila. The bottles are carefully molded, polished, glazed, and painted. There are eight lines under Clase Azul, each of which has a beautiful and unique design.
